Five Minute Friday ~ Day 6

Five Minute Friday: Remember

November 4, 2011
On Fridays around these parts we stop, drop, and write.
For fun, for love of the sound of words, for play, for delight, for joy and celebration at the art of communication.
For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.
Won’t you join us?
    1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. 2. Link back here and invite others to join in. 3. Most importantly: leave a comment for the person who linked up before you – encouraging them in their writing!
OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:

Remember…

This is something I make sure to tell my kids often, I say

PLEASE

REMEMBER

after I die, and am gone and you are having feelings of guilt for the times that you ever said something cross to me, or you feel bad for spending time with your friends, or you feel like you didn't call enough or

WHATEVER

it is

PLEASE

REMEMBER

I KNOW YOU LOVED ME!!

A parent never doubts those things, a mother sees past the impetuousness of the young ages, and just sits back and understands in her heart the boundless love between parent and child that stays no matter what happens.

I say these words from my own experience

It's something that you don't learn until you are older and  after your parents pass away.

I miss them terribly and think of them often

I am sometimes brought to that dark place of feeling like I didn't do enough for them, see them enough, call them enough and everything else that can creep into our thoughts.

I KNOW though, that they would hug me and say, oh yes, you were everything we wanted you to be and we love you no matter what and they would never want me living with that kind of doubt.

This is why I tell my girls

REMEMBER

I am proud of all you do, what you do is enough, I love you and I know you love me no matter what, and never never let those thoughts come into your mind once I'm gone!!

I have a feeling there are a lot of us that need to

REMEMBER this today!!

STOP

  1. you are so right. What great words to pass on to your children. So many I have experienced like to inflict guilt and that is just not a pleasant thing. What a gift this is....and one I won't soon forget!! Have a wonderful weekend.

It means so much to me, and I just don't want anyone else, and especially not my own children to ever have those thoughts. Your kind words just mean so much to me!! :) Have a wonderful weekend yourself!!
